Contract cleaning workers get a raw deal from their employer/client and in most instances their rights are flouted. They work under conditions of low pay, no job protection and also no benefits. To stop this, unions can work together and form a shop stewards council for workplaces such as OR Tambo International Airport, writes Rob Rees.
