This article is an edited version of a talk given by SACP internal leadership committee member Jeremy Cronin to a joint COSATU/Labour Bulletin seminar in June, attended by unionists and other activists. It presents current thinking within the party on how to build a mass legal party, combining an emphasis on quality with the need to ensure mass participation and mass initiative.
