Medical aid: questions for unions

The growth of medical aid schemes in South Africa is reinforcing the State’s strategy of privatising health care. This could mean less health care for the majority, as well as posing problems for the transformation of health care in post-apartheid South Africa. Max Price and Phakamile Tshazibane argue that trade unions should explore progressive ways of providing health services to their members.
