At some point in a worker’s employment promotion is sought or expected, and the benefits that come with it, such as higher wages and perks. However, in most instances promotions do not happen smoothly, and have been challenged, with some cases taken to the Commission for Conciliation Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA), whilst others have ended at the Labour Court or even the Labour Court of Appeal, writes Benita Whitcher.
