Farms still remain workplaces where precarious working conditions are the order of the day. Mbuso Nkosi writes that farm workers mainly work on seasonal or casual contracts. Such conditions allow farmers to easily dismiss them.Unions also find it difficult to organise on farms and this explains why the level of unionisation, at 3%, is very low.
